EM8247 (Elfin Module 8247) is a multipurpose microcomputer based on Freescale MPC8247 processor (PowerPC architecture). Module communicates mainly through ethernet. Although designed to be mounted as a part of more complex devices or connected to external peripherals, EM8247 is an indepedent computer with own Linux-based operating system named Elfintosh.

EM8247 has:

• MPC8247 processor with 266 MHz clock (higher clock rates are also available),
• 16 MB of Flash memory with device's firmware in,
• 16 MB of RAM memory for any purpose,
• CPLD device providing basic processor configuration data and 16 I/O pins,
• Spartan-3 FPGA device (from Xilinx) for any purpose,
• real time clock,
• EEPROM memory for storing any configuration data,
• processor temperature sensor,
• Ethernet communication controller (optionally two controllers are available).

EM8247's connectors:

• PCI bus,
• I2C bus,
• SPI bus,
• serial ports,
• 80-pin multipurpose I/O port,
• ethernet.

With EM8247 we deliver dedicated software development kit, Elfintosh operating system and default firmware allowing user to do comprehensive work with EM8247 as well as perform programming and testing of on-board FPGA device.
